Nine key questions customers should ask about an energy contract

Energywatch is the independent gas and electricity watchdog and in conjunction with the industry regulator, Ofgem we have devised a set of 9 questions that we believe business consumers should be asking a supplier regarding an existing or a new energy supply contract (see attachment).

Energywatch believes in empowering business consumers to make an informed decision when it comes to their energy supply contract. With the rising costs of energy and the lack of consumer protection for the non-domestic energy market it is vital that businesses understand what they are agreeing to and the impact an energy contract can have on their business including, in some cases, its survival. We hope that these questions will prompt consumers to ask for the information that is important.
