In a bid to support local businesses, Sunderland City Council is working to ensure more Sunderland companies are given the opportunity to bid for council work under the tender threshold (currently £75k).

From 12th April, any council officer buying goods or services will have access to a database which will highlight if there are any companies in Sunderland that offer the service they need. If there is, then at least two of the three quotes needed before a purchase can be made, will be provided by city businesses.

In addition to the database service, the council also has plans to help Sunderland businesses put together bids to win work.
