Sunderland family supports Starlight Stroll.
Paul and Julie Lisle, from Fulwell Mill, are helping St Oswald’s Hospice Children’s Service launch their first ever Starlight Stroll. The 5 mile Stroll will take place on Friday 25th September, during Children’s Hospice Week, at the Stadium of Light.
Paul and Julie’s son, Scott, benefited from the specialist short breaks service at the Hospice for two years, until he sadly died last month, aged three years and eight months. The family are taking part in the Stroll in Scott’s memory and they are hoping that their involvement will encourage other walkers to sign up.
Mum, Julie, said: “Scott absolutely loved going to St Oswald’s, he used to get to have so much fun and particularly enjoyed the music therapy. We trusted the staff 100% and they knew exactly what he wanted to do. They were fantastic. This is why we want to help them raise awareness of the Stroll. They helped us through some very difficult times and we’d like to thank them very much for the love and care they showed Scott and the whole family.”
St Oswald’s Hospice Children’s Service, based in Gosforth, has been providing care for children with progressive, life shortening conditions from all across the region, including Sunderland and South Tyneside, since opening in 2003. As a registered charity, they rely heavily on the support of the local community to help achieve their annual running costs.
